Due to excellent weather and road conditions, we arrived at The estate at approximately one and a half hours early. We were very warmly greeted by the owner, his wife, his son and very eager and excited grandchildren.
On entering The house, we were immediately overcome by a sense of genuine warmth and friendliness. The contented atmosphere has to be experienced to be believed.
The owner very kindly took us on a tour of this fascinating house. After the tour, we decided where we would set our equipment and experiments.

First vigil, Blue Room.

For the first part of this vigil, we kept the lights on. Bill instantly picks up on a spirit, showing herself as a young girl. She tells Bill her name is Jess. There is also the spirit of a young boy here. Name Robert. Bill now picks up the spirit of a maid called Agnes( Bill had picked Agnes up in another room earlier when helping to set up equipment). He sees Agnes chasing the kids along the hallway. Alex says they are playing "catch as catch can."

Bill, also sees a cave, not far from the house. He sees male servants using this cave for "secret" drinking sessions. Although everyone in the house knew of this. So their "secret" sessions were not secret. Bill sees one of the servants sitting on a chair in the bedroom (This man had also been seen by Bill earlier while setting up experiments). He is drunk and has a head injury due to a fall on his way back from the caves.

Bill sees a cat standing between the two single beds. Joanne reports seeing movement at the bottom of the curtain. The movement is going right across the curtain. Bill picks up another presence, but no name as yet.
Nicole reports seeing some sort of movement beside Bill. That just happens to be where the little girl is standing. Nicole and Joanne are now freezing cold. There is a definite difference in temperature where they are sitting.
There is now a cold spot beside Shirley. The room temperature drops beside Nicole and Joanne by one degree.
We decide to put the lights out at this point. There appear to be green lights dancing on the curtain. Joanne reports someone / something has just touched the back of her head.

Bill asks Joanne if her lap is cold. He says a cat sitting in her lap. Joanne once again reports her back is now colder. Bill, Alex and Tracey see the "sparkly lights" on the curtain.
Joanne and Nicole report the mattress is going up and down on the bed. It is a child jumping up and down on the bed.
Stevie, suddenly shouts "what the hell was that". He appears startled by something right in front of his face. At the time of writing, Stevie has still not said what startled him. Examination of the video footage shows Stevie bringing his hand up to his face as if someone had poked him in the eye. Bill picks up the presence of a spirit who is showing himself as a man. Name Cornelius.
This man is over 6ft 4ins. Someone touches Stevie. Joanne and Nicole report the bed is still moving. Stevie, Bill, Nicole and Joanne are now all in the same area of the room.

There is a noise behind Jim and he says something has just landed on his feet and is still there. We put the lights on and discover the rolled-up page of a newspaper is across Jim's feet. The paper had a date of 1980. The paper was stuffed up the chimney (noted before the vigil started) so it is possible it was dislodged by the movement in the room. The problem is, it had been up the chimney for a very long time, so you would have though it would have fallen down years ago. Why did it choose that particular time to fall? Jim asked "Who pulled the paper from the chimney"? Alex gets the answer Michael.
Bill sees the spirit of a man lying on the floor of the bedroom. He is drunk.

Room temperature has now dropped to 15.6. With so many people in the room, the temperature should be going up not down.
Once the girls with the team had calmed down, the lights are switched back off.
Minnie is reporting a cold spot at her left-hand side. Alex is about to ask Jess to do something to make her presence known to the team as a whole, but he is interrupted by Ian reporting a cold spot.
Once again Alex is in the process of asking Jess to do something everyone can see or hear when he is interrupted by Bill who sensed presences in the room.

Bill is seeing a "hefty bit of movement" in front of David. Bill asks Alex to come over to see if he can make it out. There is a definite mass just in front of David but we cant make it out.
Alex also sees the mass move to slightly behind David's right shoulder. We still don't know who or what this was. Stevie says there is an EMF reading, but does not say what the reading is.

Alex asks Ian if he has just touched him. Ian said no. We don't know who or what touched the leg of Alex.
Alex tries once again to ask Jess to so something. Stevie says something about being touched but he is talking so low and fast, we can't make out what he said exactly. David's camera goes out of focus.

Bill and Alex see a presence. One standing between Bill and David, and one standing in front of the bedroom door. Someone from the team says they have just got really really warm. As it is pitch dark and they did not identify themselves we don't know who it was. Bill says "Your boy has now come in. He is standing at the fireplace behind Jim".
Bill says there are now four spirits in the room. One by the fireplace, one by Minnie, one lying on the floor and the cat.
Something blows in David's face. Alex sees someone(spirit) waving his hand in front of David.
Alex asks Cornelius to do something. Minnie feels someone pressing on her left leg. She asks who it is, but no response. Joanne senses the cat moving down at her feet.

Tracey reports seeing "sparkly lights on the wall above the beds.
Alex once again asks spirit to do something we can see or hear. Alex can still see a presence by David. Ian says "you should see what I have on the camera by David's leg". He does not say what he is seeing.
Joanne reports getting really cold again, especially down her back.
Bill sees Robert doing a cartwheel across the room then back again.
Minnie again reports the girl (Jess) by her side. Alex puts his hand into the energy and feels someone take his fingers and give them a slight push. Joanne once again reports the mattress moving, confirmed by Nicole. They both say the mattress is now bouncing.
As we have a long night ahead, Alex calls a halt to the vigil.

Second Vigil Top floor hallway.

For this vigil, we were delighted to learn we would be joined by the location owner and his family.
Bill, who is standing in one of the restrooms just off the hallway picks up on the presence of ????????
Alex asks any spirits present to make themselves known. Bill and Alex hear a loud click.
Bill picks up on the spirit of an elderly lady who is "bustling" up and down the corridor. She is a family member. She says "all is in order". There is another bathroom next to the one Bill is in but he sees them as one room. Bill says this lady says she knows everything is getting done right but if she doesn't do things herself they are not done right. Bill gets the name Natalie but its not the lady’s name.

Minnie is feeling movement by her legs. Joanne says its the animals. Bill picks up on a nun walking the hallway. Nicole reports seeing an orb about a foot from the floor going up the hallway. Bill, who cant see Nicole, sees this nun floating. He indicates about a foot from the floor.
Minnie is picking up a James. The owners wife tells us the house was built by someone called James. Bill is now picking up on Robert's father also called Robert.
He sees Robert go into one of the bedrooms. Alex goes into the room and discovers it was the room where both he and Bill had earlier sensed activity when sitting on the couch at the bottom of the bed.
The team move into this room.

Robert is raging about something. He is confronting someone. There has been a fight here with a guy called Michael Swift, over racehorses. The owner’s wife asks if this has something to do with the needle ( a racehorse). Bill tries to get the name of the horse but gets nothing. He says Robert has reneged on his share of the payment for the horse. Oscar (Owner’s Grandson) senses animals by his feet. Ralph gets the date 1838. There is an EMF reading behind Alex.
Swift was an Irishman. Bill hears gunfire both coming to and going from the house.

Men are coming to the house for a confrontation over this horse. Robert is the nephew of the property owner (1817). There are six men coming to confront him. Bill says there is something in the area getting built and Michael went to the location of this to get help from the Irish navies. 1892 is the date of this confrontation. Bill sees Robert cowering in the hallway corner.
Swift said he has paid what he was supposed to. Robert says he hasn't. Billy sees Robert getting a right hiding.
Oscar gets the name "snitch"or "stitch". This could be a nickname of the horse. Joanne picks up a trained dog sitting by her leg and gets the name Arch or Archer.

Alex senses a member of the team picking something up. Minnie sees a man wearing britches. His hair is in a side parting. Minnie is not sure if this is James. She also feels pressure as if she is getting pushed.
Joanne picks up the name Archer Boy.

Bill now leads the team along the hallway to the "pink" room. The chair in this room has a temperature of half a degree below zero. The room temperature is nothing like this. Bill Picks up on a beater called Simpson. He is sitting in the chair, drunk. Minnie sits in the seat and feels pressure on her back. Minnie was not in the room when Bill said there was someone sitting in the chair.
Bill sees Agnes again. There is another girl with her who is a bit shy. Bill asked the group if anyone could get the name of the other girl, as he’s getting nothing. Minnie and Joanne say Sarah, at the same time.
Someone is telling Bill to go to the cellar.

In the cellar, Bill picks up on the spirit of a man wearing tartan. Minnie gets the colour Green. He is a MacPherson. He is using a quill. He is writing something. He is a writer of some sorts. Bill also sees him writing in columns. Minnie sees him writing something like a ledger. Bill tells the group the man was an owner of this place. Bill gets a strong reference to the word "hessian" and thinks it is something to do with the pipes in the cellar. The owner confirms a former owner was a translator of poetry as well as being a politician and secretary to the surveyor general of Florida. He rose to fame by translating Gaelic poetry into English. He educated the world on the poems of Ossian, which embarrassed the English, who until that point had though Scots to be a waste of time. The English were jealous they had no poetry pre 1066.

Bill now says James MacPherson died suddenly. He was not ill and it was totally unexpected. This was confirmed by the owner. Bill picks up the age 61. James was born in 1736 and died in February 1796. Minnie reported later feeling a pain in her chest while thinking about James’ death. Bill also says James was quite a character and had a whisky named after him as well as having his fair share of lady friends although he looked quite effeminate. Confirmed by the property owner, except the whisky which is actually named after the clan. Bill picks up that the brother of James was murdered. There is no known brother, but it is possible.
Joanne reports the feeling of something heavy on her neck and seeing injured horses. There was some discussion between Joanne and the owner as to the location of stables adjacent to the cellar and a fire at some time in the past during which horses were hurt.
We call a halt to the vigil and have a break.

Third vigil Dining Room.

Alex picks up on a Robert Mcgregor. Robert is nineteen years of age. He is looking for his "treasure" which is buried 17 paces from a yew tree, then one pace towards the moon. The treasure he is looking for is a wooden drinking vessel, a wooden bowl, a short dagger and a leather sack of salt. He needs this stuff to put in his fathers grave to protect him on his journey to the next world. Robert is dressed in what Alex describes as a bit of cloth wrapped around his waist, drooped over the shoulder and tied at the waist with a piece of leather. His shoes are just a bit of unshaped leather tied with a leather strap. His fathers name is Eoin.
Robert married Elizabeth at the age of seventeen. His first daughter’s name is Mary, his second child is called Robert, his third child called Elizabeth. There is another daughter but no name is forthcoming. His mothers name is Morag, but Alex sees it spelt in a rather strange way with many more letters. The year is 1014. Alex also picks up on a LT.COL. MacPherson. He is saying the names MACPHEARSON (pronounced MacFeerson) Not MacPherson.

Minnie is picking up on a man called Finlay. No further information on who he is or was.
Bill feels as if his left foot has been amputated. He now says it's not amputated, it's deformed. Bill picks up the spirit of a man with a hunchback. He is mentally retarded. He died when he was 31. He is not a member of the family. He lived locally with his mother and was invited here on several occasions by the owners. This is in 1915. His name is Frances Steele. He was barred from the house by the family, after he abused a child.

There was no legal action taken against him. He says he now understands what he did was wrong and is sorry. What Frances wants to do is to roll up into a ball in the corner of the room and cry himself to sleep. He is now telling Bill he likes peas. The owners of the property at that time, used to give him and his mother vegetables and other food from the estate. Bill sees Frances tie someone to a tree on the estate. It was only a game, he did not realise he was doing wrong. Frances says he is trying his best and he is not a pretty soul.

We end the vigil and have a break.

Fourth Vigil, Pink Room.

As we are settling in for this vigil, an orb? zig zags across the room. Although the camera operator sees the orb, he does not follow it, so we don't know where it went.
Alex is picking up on the name Louise. Bill picks up on a Lady Cruickshank. She is 5ft 4ins tall, black hair tied back in a sort of loose bun, a frilly necked cream dress. Her face is quite plump, but with the bodice she is wearing her waist is quite thin. 1877 is the year Bill gets. She was here for a Ball. Lady Cruickshank is in visitation here. Joanne feels she is here looking for something she left or lost here.

Bill is told by Lady Cruickshank her husband was a seaman, and although he was away at sea, he actually died on shore. She stayed here on several occasions, the last time for three nights. The owner asks if she was artistic and where she came from. Bill is not getting where she came from. Bill is now getting drawn to another two ladies, near the top of the ceiling above Alex. They have nothing to do with Balavil and have just popped in to see what’s going on. Bill feels the vortex is in this room. Alex picks up Alison/Alice. No further information. One of the ladies Bill sees above Alex, is called Elspeth. Alex picks up the surname Adams. Again, no further information on who this is.

Back to Lady Cruickshank. Bill now sees her without any shoes on. She walks across the room, stands in front of the present owner and looks at him then walks away again. Alex hears the word Grandmother. She is not Lady Cruickshank. She tells Alex the James the First bed is in the wrong room. She also tells Alex she is a party freak.
Minnie now informs the group that about a week before the investigation, she picked up on the name Elspeth and it was unrelated to anyone she knew. Alex now senses the arrival of the kids who were in the Blue Room, Jess and Robert. Jim picks up the name Mary-Anne. She is wearing a long black dress, with a white something. The dress is billowing at the bottom. Jim repeats the "white something" is an apron, the type that starts at the waist.

Alex asks Bill if Lady Cruickshank’s husband was the captain of his own ship. He said no, and Lady Cruickshank says yes. Alex says it is a schooner and it is carrying cargo.
Bill sees the cargo as Rum being brought in to the country.
Alex hears the name Lily. The spirits seem to be playing tricks with Alex tonight by giving their names but no further information.
Lady Cruickshank is now showing Bill cutlery being thrown around in the hallway. It is not being thrown in anger. Alex asks if it is kids. Bill says no. The owner informs us this was a children's nursery room once.
Bill now says Lady Cruickshank is looking for a picture of a bowl of apples. She is asking where the painting of the bowl of apples is. She painted it herself. She left it here and now it has gone. Bill now says a tray of cutlery was tipped up in the kitchen recently by Lady Cruickshank. This was just over a year ago.

Some unseen person suddenly tells Alex the fire did not start in the kitchen. The house did burn to the ground many years ago. Andrew, Peter, John and Allison again. come in, say hello then vanish again.
Joanne sees a light in the top left hand corner of the room.
The name Andrew seems quite important to the top floor of the house. Tracey picks up the name Roderick. Once again they just come in then vanish just as quick.

Fifth Vigil Return to the Blue Room.

Jim starts off this vigil by asking spirit to talk into the voice recorders. Before Jim gets the words out, some unseen presence "pings" the left ear of Alex and brushes the side of Minnie's face.
Alex gets the name Dundee. He does not know why Dundee would be here but he is leading his armies towards Kingussie. No more information.

Bill sees a figure building up at the curtain nearest the owner of the house. No team member is at this side of the curtain. The figure is now sitting in front of the curtain.
Bill now sees two figures at the curtain, one tall one small. The small one is the little girl Jess. Bill sees a red squiggly line going along the curtains. Ian says he has it on camera. Bill sees lights flashing on the curtain and above the curtain. Once again, Joanne and Nicole reports the mattress on the bed move. They are on a different bed from the last vigil in this room.
Several team members hear noises from outside the room. They go to investigate but find nothing. It should be noted there are other people in the house, but as far as we are aware, they are in bed asleep.

Alex feels a swirling cold air going around the room. Bill sees Xmas morning. He sees stockings on the beds and on the fireplace. Bill says although it is Xmas, there is no joy as there was a death around about Xmas time. Alex and Bill see a black shadow right in front of Alex. Bill says this death was in Victorian times. Bill is seeing a "traditional Xmas" not the "commercialised muck".
Alex draws the attention of the team to voices he hears outside the room. The voices are quite far away. All the team agree. Bill now picks up a schoolmistress. She says to Bill to come to her after the lesson. Bill feels someone sticking red hot rods in his skull. Alex picks up hat-pins.

Someone is breathing down the neck of Alex and the right-hand side of Bill. There is a definite figure now standing behind the curtains. This is witnessed by several team members.
The voices are heard again. Jim remarks it is almost like children’s voices.
Bill picks up the schoolmistress died in this room. She had a stroke.
Bill sees the light on the curtains again. On video playback at this point, the jingling of keys or chains are clearly heard. Nothing was heard on the actual vigil.

Alex hears the folk song MacPhersons Lament being sung by a lady. Alex says she has a lovely voice but she is not singing it as a lament. She is quite jolly about it.
We end the vigil and have a break.

Shortly after this vigil, the owners retired for the night. We are very very pleased the owners decided to join us for the length of time they did.

We have a short vigil in the reception area by the main entrance to the house. Nothing of interest happens except the battery power for the video camera David is using goes from 23 minutes to nil, in a matter of seconds and Alex picks up the name Robert Powell.

Sixth Vigil, Billiard Room.

Bill picks up on a girl named Patricia. He also picks up on a man called Jerry. Minnie says she got the name Gerrard. Bill picks up somebody in the hallway. Alex says, let them come to us.
Bill says someone is telling him something about a will. Alex picks up on a hidden panel in this room. Readers will understand why we cannot give the location of this panel.
Bill says this person was left something in a will, but he did not get it. The person is not complaining about it, he is just saying. It is the ninteenth century. Nicole is getting her hair touched.

Jerry tells Bill he used to do cross-stitching. Bill asks Alex if the Lt.Col guy is with him again. Alex confirms this but is not getting his full name. Alex. once again hears singing. This time it is a song about a Scottish Army regiment know as the Gordon Highlanders.
Stevie gets his right-hand touched.

ALL activity seems to just stop suddenly, so we decide to end the investigation. Time approx 3.30am.

Alex summary:-

From the moment I stepped foot into this house, I felt a very warm and friendly atmosphere. I picked up on three spirits who show themselves as adults and two who show themselves as children. There are no negative feelings in this house. A sincere thank you to the owners of Balavil House for allowing us access to their home and to Anthony from Scotts Castles for organising the visit. A sheer pleasure.

Bill's summary:-

On arrival I was struck by the peacefulness and tranquility that surrounded us. The property was an excellent site for our investigation.
Upon entering the house for the first time I was not aware of any spirit activity at all.
However assisting in setting up experiments in the Pink Room on the top floor, I realised that this was indeed a very busy hive of spiritual activity. As the report states we did encounter a few spirits on this level of the building.
The atmosphere in the house was most welcoming at all times during the investigation and it was a pleasure to carry out our work in such acceptable surroundings.
There was no feelings of malevolence whatsoever during our time there which was refreshingly pleasant.
It strikes me that as a perfect example of proof that us mere mortals and our friends from the realms of spirit can live in perfect harmony then this is it.

A warm thank you to the owners and organisers who allowed us to work at this den of tranquility.

Private Estate Second Visit

Team :-
Jim :- Scientific Advisor
Sean - Medium
Paul ;- Medium
Minnie:- Medium
Christine:-Medium
Ian ;- Invetigator
Billy :- Investigator
Fiona :- Investigator
Alex :-Team Co-ordinator

We decided our first vigil of the night would be in the Pink room.
The digital camcorder Alex was using refused to work. Alex tried two different tapes but none would record. Eventually after borrowing tapes from Ian, the camcorder worked.

Alex asks spirit to show itself in anyway it can. Alex picks up on a spirit showing itself as a female. Spirit says she was known as Catherine and lived in Banff. Minnie picks up on a spirit showing itself as a male. Spirit tells Minnie it was known as Edward. He is dressed in a "country gentleman's" tweeds. He has something to do with a gamekeeper.
Paul picks up on the name of Harold. Harold gives his surname as Benvie and was a ghillie at Balavil. Billy tries to take photographs but the camera refuses to work. Minnie picks up that Harold and Edward were here at the same time.
Christine feels as if she is getting choked and removes her locket from around her neck. Billy eventually gets the stills camera to work. Christine is picking up on a lady in real distress. The lady is crying and screaming and shouting for Josephine. Sean asks if Josephine is a child. Christine confirms it is. Jim, who is sitting on a chair to the left of a small table feels a tingling sensation down his back.

The camcorder Alex is using switches itself off. All team members heard the camera switch off. Fiona is seeing the outline of a figure by the wardrobe in the corner of the room. Christine goes over at the invitation of Alex and touches the wardrobe. The wardrobe door is vibrating, as if someone is trying to open it from the inside. Christine describes it as a "pounding sensation."
Fiona reports Christine is actually facing the presence she is seeing. Jim sees the presence as a child. Christine reports she feels quite cold from the waist down. She puts her hand slightly in front of her and feels an energy. Confirmed by Alex. The energy is moving back and forth in front of Christine.

Christine is picking up on the energy of a young boy. He is wearing navy blue velvet britches. He has dark hair. The boy gives his name to Sean as Robert. Christine is also picking up the name Jason. The girl tells Christine her name is Rebecca.
Rebecca is five or six years old and is not in the least bit shy. She is coming right up to Christine and is saying "i'm Rebecca." She tells Christine her fathers name is Richard.

Christine moves to the chair in the left hand corner of the room on the same wall as the room door. She feels very warm in this area as opposed to near the corner wardrobe. Jim, who is sitting less than a metre away from Christine reports a coldness and tingly feeling down his left hand side. Christine is now feeling a coldness rising from her feet to her knees.
Christine says this is Rebecca following her. Jim asks Christine to ask Rebecca to move something. Christine asks Rebecca to move something on the bedside table near to where Minnie is sitting. Minnie reports the bedside table lamp cable is moving. Christine then asks her to move the table cloth on the table Jim is sitting at. No apparent response.

Jim asks Rebecca if she would tell one of the female mediums present what if anything she can do for us. Fiona reports the table cloth is moving. Verified by team members and captured on video. Jim asks Rebecca if there are any other spirits in the room apart from her. Christine picks up Rebecca's mother is here. This is the same lady who was earlier screaming and shouting for Josephine.
Jim asks where her mother is. Rebecca points to the bed where Billy is sitting. Jim asks where Rebecca is. Christine says she is standing by Jim.

Jim then reports that must be why he is feeling a coldness beside him. Christine is now feeling a presence standing right beside her. It is a man, a small man with a round face and is bald. Alex asks Christine to ask spirit if his name is George Macpherson Grant. Spirit nods his head in agreement. He is wearing a monocle on his left eye. Alex reports a coldness right around him.
Alex asks what George is doing here. No response. Sean is picking up on a child being taken away. No further information at this point. Paul says Harold Benvie is still with him.. Harold is telling Paul to mention the shooting accident. Nobody was killed. Date 1927. There was a dispute at the time as to whether it was an accident or not.

Christine sees the spirit of a male sprawled on the floor near the window. She gets the feeling he is drunk. He is wearing a white shirt. The shirt buttons are open and he is "out." Jim asks if there is anything strange about the mans head, Christine moves over to the corner where she sees the man and says his head is bleeding quite heavily at the right hand side. Jim asks how he hurt himself. Minnie says he fell because he was drunk. Christine says he was walking, fell and struck his head on a rock.
Christine also sees a path with rocks on either side of it. Minnie says it was an accident. Sean is picking up on a Katrina. Christine and Jim swap seats. Christine is still seeing Josephine. Christine is picking up Rebecca was killed in an accident. Minnie is picking up someone is depressed because she lost a very young girl. Sean is picking up someone was raped and is getting "Laird." This is not at Balavil House.

Christine is reporting George is telling her to move from the chair she is sitting on. He is nudging Christine and telling her to move off the chair. Alex takes a step towards Christine and she reports George took a step back as Alex moved forward.
Jim reports a coldness by his back. Fiona, who is now crying is picking up "heartbreak." The feelings are coming and going very quickly. Minnie sees the spirit of the lady sitting on the bed is suffering from severe blood loss. This has something to do with childbirth. Jim also reports the bed he is sitting on is now vibrating at about four to six times a second. Jim says it is actually coming from the mattress and he thought there was someone sitting on the bed behind him. Nobody is sitting behind Jim.

Paul moves to the chair in the left hand corner of the room and Jim sits where Paul was sitting. There is a noise which sounded like a thump. Jim asks who did that and Alex replies it came from outside. Christine reports it was the bed she and Fiona are sitting on and it had just moved. Christine asked Fiona if she kicked the bed. Fiona had not kicked the bed. Alex asks spirit to do something where the cameras are pointing to rather than where they have just been. No response.

Jim balances a sturdy book on the table he is sitting near and asks spirit to knock it off the table. Paul and Christine see an energy around the book. Jim asks again for spirit to move the book. No response.

Jim asks if Rebecca can knock the book off the table. No response. Minnie keeps seeing the small towel on the towel rack moving. This is where George Macpherson Grant is standing. Minnie is seeing an energy between Paul and the wardrobe. Paul reports Harold is still with him.
Jim asks Harold what he is upset about and what the accident was. Harold tells Paul it was a shooting accident and it was him who was holding the gun. It was a toddler and he got the blame for it and lost his job. Harold tells Paul he was a ghillie here. There was no legal action taken. Harold thought he was shooting at an animal. It was in the woods. Paul sees shotgun pellet wounds down the child's left arm and left hand side of the body. Jim asks how far away Harold was from the child when the shot was fired. Paul says Harold is telling him it was a good distance which is lucky as the child may not have survived.

Jim asks if it was a male or female child. Paul says it was a girl. Jim is seeing a boy with short blond hair. Jim asks what the persons name was. Paul gets the name Catherine. Sean is getting more depressed.
Harold tells Paul he had taken one or two drinks before going shooting. Jim asks why he is still here. Harold tells Paul he loved this place and that's why he is still here. Harold passed away through natural causes. He moved away from the area because everyone blamed him for the shooting and would not accept it was an accident. He tells Paul the girl should not have been in the woods. She was chasing a dog. The dog was a golden labrador.

The table cloth is moving again. The room is checked for draughts including under the table. Nothing is found. Minnie is wondering if the dog she picked up earlier is moving around in front of the table. Jim asks Rebecca if she can indicate the size of dog. Christine says it is an old dog. A long haired labrador type dog which is quite fat. Jim asks if the dog can jump on the bed or lick somebody. No response. Christine sees the dog standing beside Rebecca in the middle of the room. Sean is getting more upset.
Fiona is picking up the energy of three people standing by the corner wardrobe. She is seeing a man with his arms round his daughter and son. Nothing further was being picked up at this time so we decided to end the vigil.

Second vigil Blue room.

Sean sees this room as a nursery. He sees a rocking horse in the left hand corner of the room. Minnie picked up kids in this room earlier. Jim asks Christine if the boy she picked up on earlier had a white frilly collar on his shirt. Christine says it comes out at the front and he is wearing a matching waistcoat, black shiny shoes with silver buckles. Christine and Jim both picked up the way the boy was dressed at the same time. Christine says the boy is just standing watching us. He is about 10/11 years of age and is very clean. She also sees him "walking like an adult" pacing up and down with his hands behind his back.

Paul, who is sitting at the left hand side of the fireplace reports feeling a vibration under him. Christine, who is sitting at the left hand side of the wardrobe reports the chair vibrating slightly. Minnie, who is sitting on the bed nearest the room door, reports something is putting pressure on her head at the bottom right hand side. Christine again picks up the name Jason. Minnie is picking up the name Michael and Sean is picking up the name Robert. Alex says he is not surprised at the names as there are more than three children in the room. Christine moves to the bed beside Minnie and Sean.

Christine says Jason is in the room and there is someone behind Jim. Jim had just said he felt something behind him. Christine said the spirit is just standing behind Jim and there is someone else standing behind him. It is a boy and a girl. Jim asks if the girl is wearing a white and pink frilly dress. Something prods Christine and she says it was quite sore.
Minnie is seeing a presence beside Sean but can't make out who it is. Alex asks who is beside Paul. Christine is seeing a small shadow beside Paul. Sean reports his left side is very cold. Jim reminds the group that Sean's aura can get very strong and it sometimes does look as if there is someone standing beside him. Sean is picking up a nanny type person. Jim says the girl standing behind him is Jenny. Minnie says she thought it was Jessie.

Alex and Paul both hear someone outside the room door. Alex asks them to come in. Nobody comes in. Both Paul and Alex hear a young girl laughing and Alex asks Ian if Antony's kids are here. Ian says he does not think they are here. Alex goes out into the corridor to check if anyone is there. Nobody was in the corridor.
Some unseen presence touches Jim's face. Christine reports she can't see Jim's face. Fiona reports the same. Christine sees the face of Sean change.

She reports she saw Sean with a lot bigger head, a white pointed beard, moustache and had square large glasses on. Jim sees something beside Paul. Paul is getting a coldness at the back of his neck. Sean says he sees a crest.
Alex asks the kids in the room to do something we can all see or hear. Paul says he is getting noises at the chest of drawers to his right. Alex asks the kids to make a series of tapping noises. No response. Energy is still being seen by Minnie and Christine around Sean. Alex asks the energy to identify itself. Sean says it is the lady from the other room and is at his left hand side. Jim sees Sean's aura being stretched at his left hand side. Sean says the lady is being told something about a child but no further information is being given to Sean.

Minnie once again says she feels this was a baby rather than a toddler and the baby was taken away.
Minnie asks Sean if it is possible the child they are sensing had something to do with the rape he picked up on earlier and that the child was taken away from it's mother. Sean said he had already picked up on that when he got "laird" earlier. Alex asks if Sean is getting the woman and laird as actually belonging to Balavil House or somewhere else but with Balavil House connections. Sean says it makes sense because he does not feel the woman belongs here. Jim says she was brought here to give birth. Alex tells the group if she was brought here to give birth, it does not tie in with the facts we know, as Balavil House was not built at that time though there is a strong connection with what Sean is saying and the names he is giving.

Sean says he is getting shown the letter A as in the capital letter of the Angus District Council. Alex asks Sean to see if he gets any reaction to some names he is going to throw at him. Alex says the names, Catherine, James, Roselea, Egyptian, Badenoch. Sean says he got a "flash" when the name Catherine was said. Jim said when the word Egyptian was said, he got the image of someone looking up at Alex with a look of surprise or recognition on their face and asking what that had to do with anything.
Jim sees a woman sitting next to Sean on the bed. Jim describes the woman as wearing a long black or dark green dress with a sort of white collar and white cuffs. Her hair is tied back in a tight bun and has a centre parting at the top and she is sitting there wringing her hands. Jim also sees her eyes are sore. She also has ankle boots on which button up. Sean picks up the name Spencer. Fiona is picking up a link between Balavil estate and Ardveckie. Jim sees the woman as not wearing any jewellery on her hands but has a silver chain around her neck. Alex sees something pass the door in the corridor. Paul said he didn't see it but he heard it.
Christine lets out a small cry and says someone had just jumped up in front of her face.

Paul hears movement by the chest of drawers again. Also heard by Alex. It is like the floorboards creaking. No team member is moving round the room. Jim reports seeing a ball of light, about the size of a golf ball moving away from Paul towards Christine. The light was orange. Jim says the man who jumped in front of Christine's face is Michael. Christine says he had a creepy ugly face and his eyes were wide open. Michael is about 15. Minnie says he is about 12.
Minnie feels movement on the bed and says Michael is on the bed. Christine describes the bed is moving like someone is jumping up and down on it. Jim asks Michael to play the trick on Paul which he played on Jim the last time the team was here. No response. Minnie is seeing energy between Paul and Alex. She sees the energy is quite low as if someone is crawling on the floor. Paul reports a cold draught passing over both his hands. Sean sees someone at the left hand side of Alex. Something touches the top of Fiona's head. Christine reports the bed is rocking back and forward.

Alex says he is going to make a noise and then count to sixty. He asks Michael to do whatever it is he is going to do within that time. Alex asks Paul if he gets the feeling Michael is trying to open the drawers. Paul says there has been movement there for a while. Paul also says during the sixty second silence, he got the impression of an energy running round the room and jumping on and off the beds. There are still cold spots in front of Paul and he gets the top of his head touched.
Jim feels a coldness down his left side again. Despite only being a few feet away Christine and Minnie cannot see Jim. Christine sees a boys face appear then vanish behind Jim. He had short dark brown hair. Ian says Jim now looks like Tam Cowan. (a Scottish comedian)

Alex asks spirit to let us hear his voice. Christine almost jumps out of her skin when some unseen presence pushes her from the back. Jim gets the left side of his face touched again. Alex asks the kids in the room to shout out. Jim, Sean, Christine and Alex hear a scratch which appeared to come from the bedside table between the beds. Just before that there was a noise like an owl hooting. Christine reports feeling something put pressure on the bed directly behind her and when she turned round Michael was right in her face again. Alex is just about to ask spirit to do something when a bang is heard from above.
Alex asks the kids to shout out there names one at a time. Christine gets the name Keiran, Minnie gets Michael and Jessie. Jim asks if the boy who jumped in front of Christine has brown hair. Christine confirms this. Sean sees a dull light on the ceiling. Like christmas lights but dull. Sean then says someone was not allowed in this room. An adult. Christine is feeling no men were allowed in here. Sean says he picked up only female staff being allowed in here.

Alex says the vigil will end in one minute and asks all spirits in the room to make themselves known. Jim sees a red flash of light between Sean and Minnie and something touches the back of Sean's hair. Alex asks Christine who is sitting on her knee. Christine sees a face looking up at her but does not know who it is. The girl is saying "look at me." Jim sees the girl as having a small doll in her arms. Alex picks up the name Amanda. Christine now sees Michael standing right in front of her standing with his arms folded. Alex asks if Michael can tell us when he died. Paul; sees a flash of light to his left in the middle of the mantlepiece. Christine picks up the year 1824.

Christine sees someone standing beside Alex. Christine also says that every time she looks up, the person standing beside Alex moves somewhere else. Jim says the little girl is tugging at Minnie as if to say look at me. Jim sees she is carrying a rag doll which is dragging on the floor. Christine sees the girl wearing a plain woollen bonnet which is tied underneath the chin. The girl has very pale skin. Christine sees the kids in this room "taking the mince" (making a fool of and doing what they want when they want) out of the nanny. Jim asks if they are children who belonged to the staff or owners. Christine says staff except for Jason. once again Michael jumps up in front of Christine.

Christine is seeing a lot of energy in the space between Alex and Paul. Sean sees the silhouette of a child standing at the bottom of the bed in front of Alex. Alex brings a halt to the vigil. When the room lights are put on, Minnie notices the grill in the fireplace has been dislodged. Nobody from the team was sitting near the grill. Minnie and Jim say the grill was not dislodged when they first came into the room as they would have noticed it when looking at the fireplace to check it because of what happened on our first investigation here.

It is decided to go to the billiard room to do a psychometry experiment with objects supplied by the owner of Balavil House. The team had no idea what these objects were going to be prior to the owner bringing them into the room. On the stairs leading up to the first floor where the billiard room is located, Christine hears bells ringing. They are like servants bells. She sees maids coming down the stairs.

The first object Allan gives the mediums is a box which looks like three books side by side. Christine sees it as a cigar box and sees it sitting on a table in the drawing room. The table is by a brown chair sitting next to the fire. Sean sees it as a "stash" (a place for hiding things) Sean is also seeing something written, possibly plans. Jim asks if this document is hand written. Minnie says it has something to do with James. Sean sees a key and Christine sees the box as being moved around but has always been in the house. Christine also sees the box as being given as a gift. She sees a quill and letters being put into the box. Christine picks up the year 1804. Paul picks up 1807. Paul says it was bought by a gentleman as a novelty and picks up the name Henry. Christine is still seeing the box by a chair in the drawing room. Paul sees shotgun cartridges.

Sean is picking up a reference to Latin or Gaelic writing. Minnie is seeing "fancy writing" rather than just plain writing. Sean is now picking up "old writing." Christine picks up secretive and hiding. Minnie picks up a connection to James McPherson. Christine see a woman hiding it. Alex asks the mediums to take the box in their hands one at a time. Minnie goes first.
Minnie is still getting a strong connection to James McPherson. Christine goes next. She says whatever is in this box has a connection to this house and is of importance. She is seeing writing and that it has been hidden. Sean goes next. He is picking up something to do with a key and writing he can't understand. Sean also sees plans and is seeing a cupboard under stairs. Paul is the last to try.

Paul picks up there has been a key in the box at some point. A brass key which going by today's standards is a big key. Paul is also picking up the box was passed as a token. This is when the box had it's key. Paul also picks up the name Henry.

Allan Mcpherson-Fletcher now asks the mediums to open the box. The box contains three books of poems. Allan tells the team.

[[Where you are absolutely right is it was a gift and it was a gift from the Prince of Wales, who then became George the IV, to James McPherson and the date is in there as 1789, so seven years before his death it was presented to him. You are also right in that it was hidden in that I didn't know of it's existence until I examined a revolving bookcase which is down in the drawing room, which belonged again, to my aged Aunt, so the old lady put it there and she had hidden it in amongst other old books and so when it was in the bookcase with the spine facing outward, I just thought it was old books because it was in with old books of a similar style. So it was hidden for a long time and I often move the bookcase but never really examined the books and it was only when I moved that bookcase and took the books out I discovered it was in fact a box rather than three books and then having then read up in an old book on the McPherson Clan, I read about this presentation from Prince of Wales to James McPherson and it's written up rather nicely as being a box of "tawdry profusion of guilt morocco" and still inside, they are in immaculate condition because they have been protected all that time. So yes, it was a gift, yes hidden.]

Jim asks about the language issues and asks Minnie if the books are in English. Minnie confirms they are but they are sort of written in quite different English. Allan McPherson Fletcher tells us "it's poetry of the world and James McPherson was famous for translating Gaelic into English so there is a sort of connection there." Allan also tells us it has always been in the family and always been in the house and it was a gift.

The next object is a "silver tankard."

Minnie asks if it was some sort of prize. Both Minnie and Christine feel it was presented to someone rather than a prize. Paul picks up it was a small part of a bigger set. Christine picks up it was used for water and is picking up a coffee pot. She then changes her mind and says it was filled with something and whatever was in it, it was given to the men in small quantities. Maybe whisky or something like that. She also sees it being used at a social gathering, as is Minnie.. Sean is picking up punch. Paul is picking up alcohol and he is shaking.

Minnie again says she feels it was presented. Christine is seeing dogs running about the courtyard and Minnie is seeing horses. Sean feels as if it was specially made for someone. Christine is seeing the name Victor and is also picking up the name Edward Jo-Hansen. Christine sees people cheering and thinks it has something to do with hunting. Minnie says she thinks it was given to somebody as a prize. Christine says it was used to toast everyone and Sean gets shooting. Christine gets the name Samuel J. Brooke.

Jim asks who had it made. Sean picks up Laird and Christine is picking up Royalty had it made. The mediums then pick up the tankard one at a time. Paul goes first. He still senses alcohol, dogs and some sort of toast being made. Minnie goes next and gets what she got earlier. Christine goes next and is seeing men outside in tweed, a man ready to fire a gun, someone standing holding the tankard up and toasting something. Sean goes next. Sean says it was definitely given in recognition of something but can't pick anything further up.

Allan tells the team.

[The closest thing you had there was Royalty and this was a gift from Bonnie Prince Charlie, so it was a presentation and it was a gift from Bonnie Prince Charlie to Cluny, one of the ancestors of these old Cluny's whose portraits are hanging on the wall and he was known as Cluny of 45 because he was late in arriving at Culloden but after the battle they all met back here at the barracks across the way in the hope that the clans would all rally and go back and fight again but they didn't so Bonnie Prince Charlie hightailed it with Cluny McPherson who hid him for nine months in various caves and places around about here and they both became fugitives with a huge ransom on their names and they were protected by all the clansmen around here who never shopped them and fed them and looked after them and Cluny McPherson himself managed to get Bonnie Prince Charlie over to the west coast where he got on a ship and disappeared to France. Nine years later, having been in hiding for nine years, Cluny went off and joined Bonnie Prince Charlie in France and he died out there. Cluny McPherson was given as a gift from Bonnie Prince Charlie that tankard which in it's day would have been very plain. Just a very plain drinking tankard, no embellishments, no lid, no spout, no flowers no nothing on it, just a very very plain simple tankard. The marks verify the date on the tankard is correct]

Allan went on to tell the team the tankard came into this family because James McPherson was a political lobbyist and when he made a lot of money, he was offered the lands of Cluny which had been confiscated by the state because Cluny has helped Bonnie Prince Charlie. But instead, James badgered the government to reinstate the lands of Cluny to the clan chief and in recognition of that, the tankard was handed to James as a thanks by Cluny's son. Allan also tells us the great grandson of James was a keen huntsman so it is possible the tankard was used then as a drinking tankard or something.

The last object is now handed to the mediums. It is a pair of compasses.

The mediums pick up the object one at a time. Christine goes first. She sees a connection with the army and is seeing it on a map and it is being moved in a circular fashion. Christine sees a grey uniform and a green uniform. She sees a large table and a map and the person in the grey uniform who is an officer is pointing to the map. Sean goes next. He sees architecture or something being designed. he sees them being used "way back" further than one hundred years. Christine picks up Royalty. Sean picks up they were given to someone to study or do their work which Sean sees as design architecture. Christine picks up the name Richard. Paul goes next and picks up the object was given as a gift by Royalty. He is getting the Victorian era and it is to do with studies. Designs but not necessarily buildings. Paul also picks up a strong male connection and sees the object being used on a ship. An old style sailing ship, not commercial probably belonging to the admiralty.

Minnie goes next. She is picking up a connection with the sea and sees a dark uniform with gold braid and a cap which looks three cornered. Minnie picks up the name Thomas.

Allan tells the team.

[Again you are right it was a gift but the thing I was interested in to see if you would pick up on that, was that this was from the industrial revolution and it's inscribed on it these are the compasses used by James Watt, the inventor of the steam engine and they were presented by his son to Sir David Brewster who married the youngest daughter of James McPherson.]

The team then have a break before moving to the Raits cave. As the caves are over a mile away, Allan very kindly offers to take us there in his own vehicles.

The Cave

In the cave which is quite large, the word "hiding" is picked up by several of the team. Sean is picking up someone wants to leave but can't. Alex picks up the word "Egyptian" again. Christine is picking up people gathered near the front of the cave rather than near the back where we are standing. She gets the date 1824 and Alex is getting the figure 160 in his head which he interprets as the 1600s. Christine sees a mass standing next to Alex. Alex informs Christine there has been something with him all evening. Christine says it is like looking at Alex through water.

Alex asks who or what is Badenoch? and is seeing a wolf here. Allan tells Alex this is what this area is called and the "wolf" was the son of King Alexander in the 1300s and he burned down Elgin Cathedral. Christine senses women being brought down here for sex but willingly. The date 1700s onwards. She says it feels like they were partying down here. Christine also feels this whole area was a very welcoming area and feels the caves would be packed with people at times and there would be drinking and such. Paul and Sean are picking up a feud between Scottish clans.

Paul gets a lot of "camaraderie" here and feels late 1500s early 1600s. Christine picks up the word prostitutes in the 1800s. Paul also picks up someone hiding in the cave, Alex picks up the name Stewart and Alexander. Alex does not know if this is two people or one. Christine senses an accident down here. A fall, near the left hand side of what is now the entrance to the cave. Christine sees something walk in front of her. The person who had an accident was a man in his late twenties and he tripped. Christine does not feel as if this is the man she picked up earlier. Again Christine sees a figure in front of her.

Alex asks Christine to ask the presence where the dagger is. Christine asks Alex if the dagger was used in a killing. Alex does not know, but it is hidden. Paul picked up something was hidden when he first came into the cave. Christine indicates where it is hidden. Sean is picking up a feeling of anxiety and helplessness. A date is jumping out at Alex 1399, which Alex says is more to do with the area than the cave. He then says this is when Alexander died. Alex also feels there should be a smaller entrance/exit at the back wall of the cave which would lead to tunnel.

Fiona is feeling dizzy as is Sean. Paul and Christine feel the same. Christine sees a baby and picks up something to do with a burial. She sees a family living in the area we are standing in. She sees the cave as being used for several different things. Paul is seeing this as a hideout and whoever was hiding out were caught, they would have been killed. Sean feels as if he has been stabbed in the back. Jim, who is looking at the cave from an engineering point of view says people could have light in here and not be seen from the outside. Alex is smelling burning peat.

Jim now asks Allan to give us the history of the cave.

Allan tells the team where we are standing is about half the cave and where we came in is actually the collapsed roof and the cave was originally about 80ft long and horseshoe shaped.. The cave is reckoned to be three thousand years old but nobody knows what is was used for. It could not be used for storing as it's too damp. It was no good for defence as somebody just has to roll a boulder against the entrance and everyone is trapped and cooking is out as people would suffocate with the smoke.

Allan also tells us there is a legend that there was a tunnel from here which ran up to the hills. Allan met an old shepherd who told Allan he blocked the tunnel off at the far end as he kept losing sheep down the tunnel. He blocked it off with stones. Allan does not know if the story is true or not. The only documented story regarding the cave is there was a bit of a clan feud between the McPherson's who arrived here at around the 15th/16th century and the Mcnivens. The Mcnivens stole a bull which belonged to Cluny McPherson's daughter. Cluny thought they would better be civil and go and ask for the bull back again.

Cluny, hoping to avoid a battle sent his daughter to ask for the bull to be returned. She was treated very badly and when she came back, her petticoats were cut off and the bull was returned with it's tongue cut out. Cluny was furious with this and then set off that night and killed about 100 Mcnivens. Eighteen of the Mcnivens escaped and came and hid in the cave. The Mcnivens were looked after by two old ladies who ran a bed and breakfast which was built above the cave.

The Mcnivens went out nightly doing "dastardly" deeds and the McPhersons could never find where they were hiding until one time, an "old beggar" who was in fact a McPherson in disguise, came along to the bed and breakfast. The McPhersons suspected something was "going on" there. He was told he could not spend the night so he pretended to take a fit on the doorstep and was then invited in to the house. He was given a seat by the fire and a pork pie. During the night, he decided he would have another pork pie and on opening the cupboard he saw that, where there were a lot of pork pies just a short time ago, the cupboard was now bare. He heard voices coming from below the cottage and he realised this was where the Mcnivens were hiding. The "beggar" then went along to Balavil Castle to alert the McPhersons, who then came to the cave and dragged the Mcnivens out and beheaded them in front of the cottage.

Children's basement play area.

Alex is picking up horses as is Christine. Alex asks spirit to show us some lights or make some bangs. After a few seconds there is a series of muffled knocks. (Not heard at the time but heard on video playback with use of earphones and volume turned full up.) Christine is picking up things were brought and stored here. Jim is picking up two cows rather than horses. Christine is seeing small lights go up her left arm towards her shoulder. She also feels this was a very busy area and senses a lot of preparation down here. Christine feels this is where staff gathered when important visitors came to the house, She also sees pigs on hooks and cattle being slaughtered. Paul sees pheasants being hung by the feet. Christine sees twigs hanging on hooks and a very long table. She sees chickens being plucked and other food being prepared.

Christine senses someone standing to the right of her. She feels there should be another entrance where the window on the back wall now is. Minnie gets a message for Sean. Spirit is telling Minnie to tell Sean "it's Betty." We move to the adjoining smaller play area. Nothing much is happening here so we decide to have a break.

Drawing Room

Jim asks spirit to make itself known. The videocam Alex has on the tripod switches itself off just seconds into the vigil. Video footage from the other cam confirms nobody was near the cam at the time. Alex switches the cam back on and it records the rest of the vigil with no problems.
Team members are reporting feeling "ice cold" and Minnie is seeing something like a diamond broach. Minnie sees the spirit of a lady dressed in a ball gown. The gown is dark green. Jim sees the gown as bottle green with a low rounded cleavage. Her hair is worn up. Confirmed by Minnie. Jim sees her as quite slim. Minnie is picking up a name but can't quite hear it properly. It sounds like Amy or Emma. Minnie is seeing her as medium built. Christine sees a red haired woman.

Jim asks the lady with the green dress if she can confirm her name. Alex hears someone walking just outside the room door, which is open. He goes to investigate followed by Ian with a video cam. Nothing is found. There are other people in the house but they are in the room next to the drawing room and are in plain sight of team members.
The woman is showing Minnie something which looks like an engagement ring. Minnie is also picking up emeralds. Minnie says this is significant as to why the lady is dressed up. Christine is seeing tapestries. She sees them sitting on a table. Christine then clarifies this and says it is embroidery. She sees two girls being taught this art. Christine is also seeing cats.

Jim is picking up a man who is wearing tweeds. He has a reddish complexion, not thin but portly like he has just had a good feed. His complexion is like someone who has had a good drink. He is an officious man. In charge. Late 1800s early 1900s are the dates Jim is picking up due to the way the man is dressed. Jim sees the man as having grey hair and a moustache. He is wearing a mustard coloured waistcoat and hooks his thumb into the waistcoat watch pocket. He is wearing brown shoes and his socks go over his trousers. Jim sees the shoes as brogues. Christine says she saw this man in the corridor earlier. She also sees him wearing a bonnet. Jim "feels" the man standing behind him and Jim's back is ice cold. Jim picks up the name Archie.

Jim is sensing the man walking around the room and is adjusting things on a table. Jim also sees the man standing by the fireplace. Christine says she sees a man standing with his arm up resting on the fireplace. Jim lets out a cry of delight as this is exactly what he is seeing. Christine also sees the man has a pipe in his mouth. Jim sees the man lighting the pipe with a long piece of thin wood. Minnie has a severe backache and leaves the room. Christine picks up the name Alexander.

Jim asks spirit if Alexander is his right name. No response. Jim then asks spirit to do something in the room so that the people who can't see him know he is there. No response at this time. Jim then asks spirit to give us his surname. No response. Christine sees movement in front of the fireplace and says the spirit is pacing up and down. Jim asks if we are making him uncomfortable. Spirit pokes his pipe at Jim. Christine says every time Jim speaks to the man, the man looks at Jim then turns and walks away when Jim stops talking. Jim asks spirit if there is anything he would like to say to us. Christine says spirit said to just stop bothering him. Jim again asks spirit to tell Christine his surname. Christine says it sounds like Ferington or Ferguson. Jim asks spirit if he would like us do to anything. Alex picks up the answer F*** O**.

Billy feels a breeze pass by in front of him. Christine sees the spirit is now walking back and forward between Jim and the fireplace.
Christine feels the spirit was very agitated when he was alive. Christine turned to speak to Jim and sees a presence just at her right hand side. Jim asks spirit to identify itself. Paul picks up the name Gilbert. Jim asks Gilbert to talk to Paul and tell him about himself. Paul and Christine feel the spirit they have been talking to is not called Alexander but is in fact Gilbert. Jim gets Gilbert Ferguson. Christine asks Gilbert to move something by the fireplace. No response. Jim asks spirit to do something tangible so everybody can see or hear. There is a loud bang. Jim asks spirit to give us two bangs close together if it was in fact him who made the first bang. There is one bang. Jim asks again for two bangs close together. No apparent response.

Christine says Gilbert will not give us what he wants as he is stubborn. He will do what he wants when he wants. Gilbert says he is responsible for taking the paintings off the wall in the drawing room. He can do what he wants but will not do it because he does not like being told what to do. Jim reminds spirit we are not telling him, we are in fact asking him. We decide to have a break.
Some of the team want to go back to the Pink Room.

In the Pink Room, Paul tries a mirror experiment. While looking into a mirror, he hopes to take on the features of any spirits in the room. After a few minutes, Paul sees his face change. There are numerous light anomalies appearing in the room (noticed through the video viewfinder) Nobody is moving around the room and earlier while the full team was in this room there were no light anomalies reported through any of the viewfinders. The "orbs" are floating randomly around the room in the area where Paul is sitting.

Christine, who is looking at Paul's face through the mirror sees Paul's face changing. She sees the face looking towards the video camera. Christine is seeing five faces. One of a female and four males. She sees the face of a man who has a beard, moustache and has a fair complexion. He has a shaven hairline. Christine is now seeing a young girl with blond hair which is centre parted, She has very thin features. Alex asks if she is getting any names. Christine says they are coming and going so fast it is impossible to get names. The "orbs" are still moving around the area where Paul is sitting.

Christine says there is one face in particular which keeps coming back. It is a man who is bald and has a thin face. The man keeps looking at the videocam. Paul feels very comfortable where he is sitting and says there are no negative energies around him. Paul now sees the face of an old woman with a "watch your step " type look on her face. She goes away and then comes back suddenly. Christine is now seeing a man who has greasy hair with a middle parting and his ears stick out. He has a long chin and is really scruffy looking.

Paul is picking up a guy with a beard. He has quite a high hairline. Paul now sees the face of a woman who he thinks is in her twenties. She is wearing a black veil and a black hood and is looking down at Paul. The "orbs" are still having a field day around Paul. Christine is now picking up a face which she says is deformed. Chinese like eyes and the face is like a "blowfish." Paul picks up the woman with the black hood again and asks Christine to try and get her name. Christine picks up the name Isabella.
Paul gets another female face. She has short hair and is very pale. This is the woman who earlier appeared in the black hood. Christine picks up the "deformed" face again and says its a baby and the baby is smiling. The face is not like a blowfish it is just smiling. The baby has two small teeth and wide eyes. Christine sees a hand on Paul's back. Paul says it is his guide.
Christine picks up the name Walter and the name Bryce. Paul calls a halt and we decide to have a break before going back to the drawing room.

Drawing room two.

Christine and Paul are picking up on the spirit of a man with "funny eyes." Paul describes the look as the look of a Colonel. Christine sees a shadow go towards the fireplace. Paul asks Gilbert to make it clear to the team he is here. He asks Gilbert to move something in the room. touch someone or make a noise. Paul says he can't see Gilbert but he "feels" him. He asks Gilbert if this was his room. No apparent response at this time. Paul asks Gilbert to copy the noise he is going to make. No apparent response.
Christine says her back is ice cold and feels Gilbert is sitting next to her. Paul is sensing movement at a writing/display bureau in the room and asks Gilbert to make a noise there if it is him. No response at this time. Ian is getting pain in his back. Alex says come on Gilbert O'Sullivan do something. Paul says he was just thinking of that name. Christine feels a pressure on her lap and that her lap is freezing. The pressure comes and goes.

Alex is picking up the name Archibald. The name Archie was picked up earlier. Christine hears two very faint knocks which seemed to come from the area in front of the fireplace. Alex asks spirit to do something the cameras can pick up. No apparent response. Christine sees a figure leaning on the back of the sofa where Fiona and Billy are sitting. No further information on who this may be. Christine is seeing Alex with thick long black hair. Alex is suddenly drawn to the writing/display bureau. He asks the team to come over and see if they can see anything different.

Christine expresses an interest in God and asks Paul to come over and see if he can see a familiar face in one of the photos. Paul confirms straight away that the guy in the photo is the spirit who is in the room. This is also one of the faces Paul and Christine saw in the mirror experiment. Two strange things here. Firstly the fact that Alex was suddenly drawn to the bureau and the fact when Alex got up from the chair he was sitting on to go to it, he was told sternly by some unseen presence to "fix the cushion" on the chair.

Paul, who is now standing by the door which leads to the family tv lounge, asks Christine to come over to him. Paul is feeling an ice cold breeze in front of him which appears to be moving from his left to his right, then back again. Christine feels the same and Billy reports seeing movement in between Christine and Paul. Christine sees Paul step forward and asks Paul if he is walking funny. Paul had not moved. Christine is now seeing Paul as taller and feels spirit is trying to manipulate Paul. Paul checks for draughts at the tv lounge door. There are no draughts.
Christine hears talking outside the room in the hallway. She says it is like people walking about and there is a distant chatter. The hallway is checked but nobody is found. There are other people in the house but they have retired for the night. All activity seemed to stop suddenly so it was decided to end the vigil.
The investigation ended at 3AM.
